From The Chicago Tribune:
"Thirteen years after Georges 'Kiki' Cuisance moved from the Loop to the Near North Side, his bistro still ranks among the finest in the area. Chef Jose Luis Espino, who follows in the large footsteps of founding chef John Hogan and his successor Javier Guzman, manages bistro classics with considerable flair, and his occasional breaks with tradition are just as good. The homey, country-French decor is as cute as a postcard."
From the Zagat 2002-03 Survey of Chicago Restaurants:
"Tucked into an 'out-of-the-way' section of River North, this 'congenial' and 'consistently solid' 'old favorite' with an 'authentic Gallic presence' is prized by a 'mature crowd' for 'well-prepared, quality bistro food' within a 'charming Country French' setting; though generally 'professional', the service can 'falter when the dining room is too busy'; P.S. there's 'nice, free valet parking' (lunch and dinner). F:24 / D:22 / S: 22 / C: $40"
From Crain's Chicago Business, May 31, 2004:
"Technically not so late-night--the kitchen closes at 9 (10 on weekends)--this spacious, lively bistro feels beamed from Left Bank. It draws an eclectic grown-up crowd and serves homey bistro fare. If you like what you got last time, get it again--it's that reliable. I'm a big fan of the onion soup and its gummy crust of Gruyère. The salmon appetizer is surprisingly generous. Kiki's boasts one of the best roast chickens around, nicely browned and always moist. The steak frites ranks with the best in Chicago, nothing pretentious, just a thin cut of tender top butt steak with a glob of herbed butter and a mountain of fries. Various salads, lots of desserts. For newcomers, the most challenging part of Kiki's may be finding the restaurant amid the one-way streets around Franklin. (Hint: Go north from Chicago Avenue.) Once there, however, the valet is free." - Jonathan Black
